World Cup 3 officially begun tonight at the opening ceremony on the bank of the Augsburg Eiskanal in Germany.
The whitewater channel here in Augsburg was built for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. It is always a special place for me to race: not only was it the venue for Slalom at the sports inauguration to the Olympic Games, it was also the site of my first ever World Cup race back in 2007.
The artificial channel boasts some of the least predictable and surging water of any course on the International Circuit. Having a bit of luck can be the difference between spending 1 second in a gate versus 5. So keep your fingers crossed that the river gods are looking out for me tomorrow while you are following along with the live stream and results here: https://www.canoeicf.com/canoe-slalom-world-cup/augsburg-2018/rankings-results
Look for bib 39! I am off at 8:51am local time in Germany, so for folks tuning in home that is 2:51am in Ottawa. As usual, the results and feed will be up after the fact if you would like to go back and check them out. I will also post videos after the fact on the video page.
